Frag5.wad collected by Ralph Evans (RalphEvans@aol.com)
This is a collection of Doom II frag intensive deathmatch wads with exits so
that you can play all 13 in a row. I recommend using -timer 8 to spend 8
minutes in each map for variety.
Play using "doom2 -file Frag5.wad" (you must have the registered version).
Map 3, by John Capone of Cyberspace, 714-838-8100, used a very innovative
technique of putting backround sounds in the mouths of the enemies. I added a
few monsters to each map so that you could hear the background sounds but to do
this you must play with the monsters. There are only 2-6 per level and so it
should not slow game play.
This is the source for this new wad pak:
Map1 Roketeer
Map2 Window
Map3 Monk-u2
Map4 Deth map 1
Map5 Gak
Map6-10 Avatar1
Map11-13 Deth maps 2-4
Map14 Epic (with repairs made by me through Dck and Deu2)
My highest regard to all WAD authors, you did a fantastic job guys!

Title : Avatar Collection #1
Author : Mackey McCandlish
Email Address : avatar@widomaker.com
Misc. Author Info : Author of the One Must Fall strategy
guide. Creator of DOOM MUST FALL (DOOM
total conversion patch), Diversions
playtester. Look for me in #DOOM in
IRC as _Avatar_.
Description : 5 great Deathmatch specific levels, each
well tested and including not only great
technique but great amounts of texture
alignment, too.
Additional Credits to : The DEU team, of course, and Brian Hess
for helping me test it. Additional
credits go to the #doom IRC gang.
Specifically: Funkyboss, Slug, Scooby,
ViDiOt, and NoSkill.

* Play Information * AVATAR1.WAD
Episode and Level # : MAP02 - MAP06 so you can start on level
1 and play to map7 (5 new dmatch levels
plus 2 classics).
Single Player : Yes, good for practicing, I suppose.
These are Deathmatch levels though!
Cooperative 2-4 Player : Yes, but only if its 2 on 2 deathmatch
style cooperative.
Deathmatch 2-4 Player : This is what they're MEANT for! Rocks!!
Difficulty Settings : Yes! Very important: Practice in one
player on skills 3-5, but if you're
gonna Deathmatch someone, up the skill
to 4 (5's the best!) and take on your
friends while a Stomper or two pick you
off from the distance! I can guarantee
you won't be stopping for breath! (As
with all in the Avatar1 series, skill 1
is left without monsters
New Sounds : Naw..
New Graphics : Not too much. A sky texture here, level
name graphic there, and maybe a couple
indications of exactly who the author
is.
Demos Replaced : An LMP of all 5, as Avatar1.LMP,
recorded with FunkyBoss (Wendigo
made one with me too, but that
was before I knew the "-timer"
function wasn't saved in lmps:)
* Comments *
Quick rundown on the levels:
Headache: Great 2 player level that can work in either AltDeath or
DeathMatch. Has a trip-wire warning system for the SS, in
case you didn't notice..
Gr8Bridg: Best with 4 players, this is the most technique filled
level. You can do a lot of cool things that might not be
obvious..
Fragman: Every author has one.. you can't HELP but frag the hell
out of each other in this one.
Temple: More of a hunting level than the others, but it has its
moments.
CASA!: Remotely like Temple and Fragman combined, this one keeps
players together, but requires a little more skill to
get around.
Standard features of each level:
A line of symmetry (or two)
Nomonsters on skill 1 or 2
Regular monsters on skill 3
Cyberdemon (and sometimes an Archvile, too) on skill 5
An out-of-the-way exit, marked simply with an exit wall texture..
Oodles of texture alignment
Prepackaged coolness
* Construction *
Base : Varied.. 2 hours average, but the texture
alignment on Casa (map06) took an hour
by itself.
Build Time : 3 weeks or so.
Editor(s) used : DEU5.21GC!!! Yes, besides for the floors
(done all with WADED), this WAD was
made completely with good old "DOOM 1
only" DEU5.21 with some creative use of
WAD1to2.
Known Bugs : None, and the textures are aligned
well. (Okok, there's a LITTLE bit of HOM
on Gr8Bridg, but I slashed the heck outa
that level to cut it down majorly.
